SMK King Edward Vii Taiping 2012 Athletic C;ships



SMK Track and Field Championships.

TAIPING: In conjunction with the annual Edwardian Sports Carnival 2012 the 96th SMK King Edward VII Taiping Track and Field Championships was held on its track here recently.

Despite the rainfall all the 17 events were completed on that day and also no record breaking feat was seen in including in the other 32 events (totalling 49 events) held earlier.

The guest of honour was the CEO Northern Corridor Implementation Authority, Datuk Redza Rafiq. On his arrival he was escorted to the podium by the school principal, Abdul Rahsib Husain. Redza took the salute at the march past. The contingents that were seen in the parade were the school prefects, uniform unit of the school, and athletes from Head, Keir, Kings Raffles, Parr, Head and Watson Houses
dressed for the occasion and was also accompanied by the School Military Band.

After the march past, the Championship flag was hoisted by the school military cadets and the school athletic captain with the school house flags dipped took the sports oath in front of the podium where Datuk Redza witnessed it.

At the end of the oath taking ceremony Datuk Redza declared the championship open with firing a shot from the starter's gun.

Datuk Redza in his speech thanked the school for inviting him and he also spoke of his father as one of the school teacher, his school life and also some hints to be role model of the school.

The principal Abdul Rasib welcomed Datuk Redza, parents,old boys and guests and thanked the organising committee for successfully carrying out the championship, and gave a brief talk on the school's sporting activity and achievement at inter school levels.

Then one field , 13 sprints event, two official events and two tug-of-war events were run off..
